In 2011, the Administrative Office of the U.S. District Court, Defender Services Office, contracted with Mr. Aoki to serve as its first National Coordinating Discovery Attorney (CDA), assisting more than 12,000 court-appointed Criminal Justice Act (CJA) attorneys and federal defender lawyers in developing strategies to manage and review large volumes of electronic discovery in major criminal cases prosecuted in U.S. District Courts nationwide. He has been appointed as a CDA by federal court judges in more than 190 cases across 48 jurisdictions.
